Welcome 🙂

Welcome to the Parish Youth Group Listowel (PYGL) web page! We are a small (religious group) group of teens that attend/host social events in our parish.

The group started in September 2019 and since then we have built a tightly knit and ever expanding group continuously aiming to give back to our Parish and community.

We gather in the parish meeting room to chat and to discuss the agenda and to have fun. (More on that below!). If you’d like to join us you can be sure that everyone will give you a warm welcome!

We have helped reintegrate altar servers back into our masses for the first time since the Covid-19 pandemic. We have developed a new training programme as a group for the altar servers. From training sessions, to at-mass supervision of the altar servers, we’ve done it all! It has been an amazing experience and we are reading for any new altar servers coming through this year!

We took part in a Youth Leadership Workshop facilitated by the Dioceses of Kerry. It was a wonderful and informative day. We had lots of fun and were able to pull together a plan for our future, with some very exciting things coming up!

PYGL Beach Clean

Well done to All our Youth Group PYGL who done a socially distanced beach clean in the bank holiday weekend.

Collected loads of items to stop them getting into our oceans and effecting our marine life. You would be amazed by what they found!!

Our Members

We currently have six members.

Sarah, John, Hannah, David, Maggie & Ellen.

Oh and of course we have our leaders Kay, Emer & Brian.

Trips, outing, new projects…

As members of the Parish Youth group, we aim to give back to our community. We often come together as a group and plan different activities that are both fun and help us to live as Jesus wants us to.

Right from the start, we were graciously given the space and freedom to have a say in what we do; even designing our very own group logo. We have had the pleasure of volunteering at our local Sera Husky rescue centre as well as visiting nursing homes, providing some good music, song and smiles.

In December 2019 through a lot of time and teamwork, we scripted and performed our very own Christmas/Advent show for the parish.

Our group is looking ahead to the future with hope and initiative so that with an abundance of laughter and determination our Parish Youth Group can continue to bring some light to our locality.

Leaders/Roles/ Atmosphere

From the beginning, the group has taken on more structured roles including Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer which get switched up annually. Every year, we rotate titles and vote for different people to take on something new.

Each individual has a different and valuable part in the group, contributing their opinion and ideas. We work as a team on each activity allowing for friendship and discovery of ideas to build goals. Our group leaders oversee the group and ensure everything is ran smoothly.

Our group is a place for people to express themselves in a safe and welcoming space with the support of the other group members.

New members are always welcome. Our group is open to ages 12+. We meet at least once a month.
